An elderly lion couple has been euthanized together, so
neither of them would have to live without each other.
Hubert and Kalisa, who lived together at the LA Zoo, were
both put to sleep after six years of being entirely inseparable of one another.
Lions that live in the zoo are supposed to live on around 15
to 17 years, so the couple had far surpassed their life expectancy by reaching
the grand old age of 21.
Sadly, the pair was declining in health and had begun to
experience age-related disorders, which were distressing their quality of life.
