An aquarium has greeted a chick to a pair of same sex penguin
parents for the first time.
Female penguins Electra and Viola welcomed their embraced
chick at Oceanografic Aquarium, Valencia, Spain.
The pair adopted the egg from another penguin couple and nurtured it themselves. Up to now, the gender of the chick is unknown as blood tests to describe this can’t be done until it’s about six weeks old.
The anonymous new addition is one of three chicks to have been
born into the colony of 25 gentoo penguins this breeding season; couples Navi
and Aquela, as well as Bolo and Melibe also greeted a chick.
