Don't Miss the Super Pink Moon Coming in April 2021

Many people are excited to get outside now that the weather is warming up in many parts of the world. Mark your calendar for the super pink moon on April 26, 2021, if you're looking for an outdoor activity to look forward to this season.

If the moon's full phase coincides with its perigee, or the point in its orbit when it is nearest to Earth, a super moon occurs. The moon's fully illuminated disk, coupled with its close proximity to our planet, makes it appear particularly big and bright in the night sky.

The super pink moon will rise on Monday, April 26th, and will remain visible until Tuesday, April 27th. The precise time of perigee is 11:31 p.m. EDT, but you don't have to sit up too late to see it. The moon appears to be the largest when it is just above the horizon, thanks to the moon illusion.
